From the District Chair

I am very happy to continue as your District Chairman for 2018.  2017 was a great year for our Scouts.  We logged a ton of service hours and camping days.  We had a great turnout for Rocket Day and Scouting for Food.  Our WEBELOS Woods and Camporee had great weather and a large turnout as well.

With 2018, a whole host of challenges await us.  In addition to providing excellent programs for our Scouts, we have two significant changes coming up.  First, sometime in the near future, we will be offering the opportunity for Cub Scout packs to open membership to young women.  As of this writing, we do not have any details.  Please continue to check the Arrowmoon/SHAC/BSA National websites for further information and/or continue attending the District Roundtable.  Second, we will also launch our Lions program for our kindergarten age kids to join Scouts.  There is information on the BSA National website.  The rollout information will come in the spring.

Finally, I want to thank all of our volunteers for putting in ‘1 hour a week’ for our Scouts.  I appreciate your drive and motivation to provide a quality Scouting program for the Brazos Valley.

Yours in Scouting,

Craig George
